FALL HAS COME TO NEW ENGLAND

The fog was just lifting off the water this morning when we heard the geese arrive.  What a way to start the day.

GOT BRITTANY?

People are always asking if Lexi is a brittany.  Here are Lexi and her brittany friend, they do look similar, but they aren't the same.

What fun the dogs had playing together, in and out of the water.  Last night we had our first frost of the season so the water must be cooling down, but it doesn't seem to bother any of them.

Now where did those fish go?

When its fall in New England -- I'ts time to enjoy being outdoors

What could be better than to be outside with friends and their dogs.   Today was a picture perfect day and we decided to enjoy an afternoon in the country. Here are a few candids of Lexi.  An active welshie is a happy welshie!

Labor Day weekend with the Riese's

Russ and I had a wonderful trip to Georgia to spend Labor Day weekend with Susan and Gary Riese and their Statesman Welsh Springer Spaniels. We were even lucky enough to meet other welshie families there, who have become new friends.

Who wouldn't be happy to be met by all of these wagging tails!

IN NEW ENGLAND THE RAIN HAS FINALLY STOPPED

NOW IT'S TIME TO COOL OFF AT WORK

July 28, 2009

It has been a very cool rainy summer in New England this year.  So today is the first day that Lexi has played in her pool at work.  As soon as the hose started filling the pool she jumped in.

Play with the  ball then back in the water, what a good life.

Happy 3RD Birthday Lexi

enjoying the day in the fields OF NEW ENGLAND

Dogs have always been an important part of our lives.  We consider them to be part of the family and treat them as such. Four years ago we saw our first Welsh Springer and have been in love with the breed ever since.

Welshies are a sweet breed but they are not for everyone. They like to be with you all the time and will follow you from room to room. Each time you stop, they stop and lie down beside you. They are your shadow. They are referred to as "velcro dogs" and that is not an exaggeration. Welshies need to be part of the family, please keep this in mind when considering adding a welshie to your life.

Some welshies can be reserved and all puppies and young dogs need to be well socialized.  It is important that they are exposed to different situations, noises and people of all ages.

Although Lexi is a champion show dog, most importantly she is our loyal companion. Her health and well being are the most important thing to us.  We have had her health testing done and the results were thankfully very positive. She has received a CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) number, which means she has had all the testing done which the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of America recommends. See her results on the LEXI page.

When socialized early welsh springers get along well with other animals.  Lexi has a special relationship with standardbred trotter RC Royalty. It is so enjoyable to watch them together.

I am a great believer in crate training.  When Lexi was a puppy we crated her in the house when we were not with her. In addition from the time she was a puppy we crated her when she was in the car.  She likes being in the crate and it allows her to be safe but still be able to move around.  When she is in other vehicles she wears a harness.

When she is home her favorite place to be is in someone's lap.
